Estévez, Antonio, Venezuelan composer; b. Calabozo, Jan. 3, 1916; d. Caracas, Nov. 26, 1988. He studied composition with Sojo and oboe at the Caracas Escuela de Musica y Declamacion (1934–4), composition with Copland at the Berkshire Music Center in Tanglewood, and electronic music in Paris. Among his works were Suite Llanera for Orch. (1942); Concerto for Orchestra (1949–50); choruses; piano pieces; Cosmovibrafonia, electronic pieces (1968).
