Davenport, Francis William
Davenport, Francis William , English composer; b. Wilderslowe, near Derby, April 9, 1847; d. Scarborough, April 1, 1925. He studied law at Oxford, but preferred music, and became the pupil (later son-inlaw) of G.A. Macfarren. In 1879, he became a prof, at the Royal Academy of Music, and in 1882 at the Guildhall School of Music.
