Chin, Unsuk, Korean composer; b. Seoul, July 14, 1961. She studied piano at an early age, and then had composition training with Sukhi Kang at the National Univ. of Seoul (graduated, 1985). She received a Deut-scher Akademischer Austauschdienst stipend and pursued further compositional studies with György Ligeti in Hamburg (1985–88). Chin then was active at the electronic music studio of the Technical Univ. in Berlin. Her compositions explore the acoustic properties of sound.
