Buswell, James Oliver (IV)
Buswell, James Oliver (IV), American violinist, conductor, and teacher; b. Fort Wayne, IncL, Dec. 4, 1946. He studied violin with Galamian at the Juilliard School of Music in N. Y., then pursued academic training at Harvard Univ. (B.A., 1970). In 1963 he made his debut as a violinist in St. Louis, and in 1967 made his N.Y recital debut; subsequently toured as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber music player; later was a member of the Buswell-Parnas-Luvisi Trio, and also made appearances as a conductor. He taught at the Univ. of Ariz, in Tucson (1972–73), the Ind. Univ. School of Music in Blooming-ton (1974–86), and the New England Cons, of Music in Boston (from 1986).
