Block, Michel
Block, Michel, Belgian-born American pianist and teacher; b. Antwerp, June 12, 1937. He grew up in Mexico, making his debut as a soloist with the National Orch. in Mexico when he was 16. He then went to N.Y., where he studied at the Juilliard School of Music. He made his N.Y. debut in 1959, then made a successful career as soloist with orchs. in the U.S. and Europe. In 1978 he became a teacher at the Ind. School of Music in Bloomington. In 1987 he became a naturalized American citizen.
