Agnesi-Pinottini, Maria Teresa

Agnesi-Pinottini, Maria Teresa, Italian harpsichordist, singer, and composer; b. Milan, Oct. 17, 1720; d. there, Jan. 19, 1795. She won success as a composer with her first theater piece, the cantata pastorale Il ristoro d’Arcadia, which was given at the Regio Ducal Teatro in Milan in 1747. She wrote her own libretto for the opera Ciro in Armenia, which was premiered at the same theater on Dec. 26, 1753. Among her other stage works were Il reacute; pastore (e. 1756), Sofonisba (Naples, 1765), and Nitrocri (Venice, 1771). She also wrote some instrumental music.
