In postwar Paris Lucien dreams of becoming a documentary filmmaker, with his friends accompanying him to Africa to serve as his production team. His parents want him to get a regular job and Lucien's buddies are more concerned with love affairs, jazz, theatre, and other pleasures to take him too seriously.
