Private Fears in Public Places ★½ Coeurs 2006

Many short scenes make for a fitful stopandstart story about six essentially lonely people in Paris. Nicole (Morante) is looking for a new apartment for herself and fiance Dan (Wilson) with the help of broker Thierry (Dussollier). Thierry works with Charlotte (Azema), who knows bartender Lionel (Arditi) at the hotel where Dan likes to drink. Dan's drinking causes him to split with Nicole and he meets Gaelle (Carre), who happens to be Thierry's unhappy younger sister. The actors are pros but the production feels flat and constricted. French with subtitles. 120m/C DVD . FR IT Laura Morante, Lambert Wilson, Pierre Arditti, Isabelle Carre, Andre Dussollier, Azema; D: Alain Resnais; W: Alain Resnais, Alan Ayckbourn, JeanMichel Ribes; C: Eric Gautier; M: Mark Snow.
