The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A Veggie Tales Movie ★★ 2008 (G)
Three produce-aisle pals—a cucumber, a gourd, and a giant grape—find themselves transformed from dinner theater waiters into 17th-century pirates charged with the task of saving a princess and thwarting the bad guy. The faith-based, kid-friendly franchise backs off on its usual religiosity in favor of a more Oz-like tone to convey the virtues of moral fortitude, but the young'uns will be too into the bright colors, silly voices, and funny faces to care about the message, let alone the fact that the characters are fresh from the middle strata of the food pyramid. 85m/C DVD . USM: Kurt Heinecke; V: Cam(eron) Clarke, Mike Nawrocki, Phil Vischer, Laura Gerow, Yuri Lowenthal.
