The Ghost Train
The Ghost Train ★½ 1941
Badly dated mystery/thriller. Grating musical hall comedian Tommy Gander (Askey) causes a group of passengers to miss their connecting train and they are all forced to wait overnight in an eerie Cornish station. The stationmaster (Lomas) tells them that the station is haunted by a ghost train (the result of a deadly rail disaster) and that very night is the anniversary of the original tragedy. But what happens next turns out to be far less supernatural (note the film was made during wartime). 82m/B DVD . GB Arthur Askey, Richard Murdock, Kathleen Harrison, Peter MurrayHill, Herbert Lomas, Morland Graham, Carole Lynne, Betty Jardine, Stuart Latham; D: Walter Forde; W: Val Guest, J.O.C. Orton, Marriott Edgar; C: Jack Cox.
