Total enrollment: 20,637. Faculty: 1,062 (612 full-time, 450 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 21:1. 12,198 applied, 54% were admitted. 4% from out-of-state, 0.4% Native American, 48% Hispanic, 8% black, 19% Asian American or Pacific Islander, 5% international, 34% 25 or older. Retention: 75% of full-time freshmen returned the following year. Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 130 open to all; national fraternities, national sororities, local fraternities, local sororities; 2% of eligible men and 2% of eligible women are members. Most popular organizations: Society of Hispanic, Engineering and Science Students, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer, Sigma Delta PI, Asian Unified, Society of Automotive Engineers.
