Sciutti, Graziella, Italian soprano, opera producer, and teacher; b. Turin, April 17, 1927. She received her training at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 1951 she made her debut as Lucy in Menotti’s The Telephone at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. In 1954 she sang for the first time at the Glyndebourne Festival as Rosina, and she returned there until 1959. She sang Carolina in II Matrimonio segreto at the opening of the Piccola Scala in Milan in 1955. From 1956 she appeared at La Scala in Milan. She made her debut at London’s Covent Garden in 1956 as Oscar, and made appearances there until 1962. In 1958 she made her first appearance at the Salzburg Festival as Despina, and continued to sing there until 1962. In 1958 she made her U.S. debut as Susanna at the San Francisco Opera. After her career as a soubrette exponent ended, she devoted herself to producing opera in Glyndebourne, at Covent Garden, in N.Y., Chicago, and other opera centers. From 1986 she also ran her own music academy in Florence.
