Luchetti, Veriano

Luchetti, Veriano, Italian tenor; b. Viterbo, March 12, 1939. He studied in Milan and Rome. In 1965 he made his debut as Alfredo at the Wexford Festival, and in 1967 he appeared in Spoleto. In 1971 he sang in L’Africaine at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where he returned in 1974 in Spontini’s Agnes von Hohenstaufen.In 1973 he made his debut at London’s Covent Garden as Pinkerton, and made appearances there until 1976. His first appearance at Milan’s La Scala took place in 1975 as Foresto in Verdi’s Attila, and in 1976 he sang Cherubini’s Jason in Aix-en-Provence. He was engaged for I Lombardi in Verona in 1984. In 1985 he sang Macduff at the Salzburg Festival. After appearing as Foresto at the Vienna State Opera in 1988, he sang Radames in Turin in 1990. He also made many appearances as a soloist with various European orchs., especially in Verdi’s Requiem.
