Advanced Cardiovascular Surgery Fellowships (Graduate, Postdoctorate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To provide exposure in the field of advanced cardiovascular surgery. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicants must complete either of ABTS requirements or their equivalence in cardiothoracic surgery training abroad. Criteria: Priority is given to applicants who passed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the former Foreign Medical Graduate Exam in the Medical Sciences (FMGEMS) and the ECFMG English examination.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit: completed online application; curriculum vitae; personal statement of professional goals; copy of graduate school and or medical/dental school diploma. Postdoctoral fellowship applications includes: official transcripts; three letters of recommendation from faculty members. Other residency and fellowship program applications includes: dean's letter; official transcripts; official test transcripts for

American Association for Thoracic Surgery Clinical Fellowships (Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To provide fellows with primary surgical responsibility and opportunity for first hand patient care in the management of esophageal, gastric and pulmonary disease. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicants must be first hand patient care in the management of esophageal gastric and pulmonary disease. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the committee's review of application.

Edward D. Churchill Research Scholarships (Professional Development/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide an opportunity for research, training and experience for North American surgeons committed to pursuing academic career in cardiothoracic surgery. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicants must be in the final year of cardiothoracic residency or in their first two years in an academic position. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the submitted research proposals.

Funds Avail.: $80,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a proposal for the research; and a statement of career plans and how the research activity will relate to the applicant's academic career. Deadline: July 1.

Ryan Hill Thoracoesophageal Fellowships (Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To promote unique opportunity for clinical research involving thoracoesophageal surgery and/or interventions endoscopy. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicants must be pursuing both clinical research and additional surgical training in esophageal or general thoracic surgery. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the committee's review of application.

Massachusetts General Hospital Summer Scholars Program (Undergraduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To promote unique opportunity for clinical research involving thoracoesophageal surgery and/or interventions endoscopy. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicants must be first or second year medical students. Criteria: Selections are based on: applicant's care of patients, time spend in the operating room; and clinical research project.

Summer Intern Scholarships in Cardiothoracic Surgery (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To introduce the field of cardiothoracic surgery. Focus: Medicine. Qualif.: Applicants must have the approval of the prospective sponsoring institutions; must be a member of the AATS; must be first or second year medical students. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on the committee's review of application materials.

Funds Avail.: $5,000. To Apply: Applicants must complete an online application and include a one-page outline of what they hope to accomplish during their eight weeks internship.
