Dorothy G. Allsop Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for African-American students pursuing their college education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduating African-American high school seniors residing in Connecticut who have a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above on a 4.0 scale. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement and financial need.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the scholarship application form online and must submit a typed essay of no less than 250 words on the topic “Why Cosmetology/Beauty Culture is important to me” Deadline: March 1.
Dr. Julianne Malveaux Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for African-American students pursuing their college education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be United States citizens; must be African-American females; must be enrolled as college sophomores or juniors in an accredited college or university; must be majoring in journalism, economics or related field (public policy, creative writing, etc.); and must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement and financial need.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the scholarship application online and submit a 1000-word essay on their career plans and their relevance to the Dr. Julianne Malveaux Program Theme: “Black Women’s Hands Can Rock the World.” Deadline: March 1.
NANBPWC National Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for African-American students pursuing their college education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be graduating African-American high school seniors who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale by February 1st in the year of graduation. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on financial need.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the scholarship application form online and must submit a typed essay of no less than 300 words on
the topic: “Why Education is Important to Me” Deadline: March 1.
NANBPWC Woman of Substance Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To provide financial assistance for African American students pursuing their college education. Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be African American females who are residents of Michigan; must be undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited college or university; and must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Criteria: Applicants are evaluated based on academic achievement and financial need.
Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the scholarship application online and submit a 500-word essay on the topic: “Challenges to the Mature Student and How They’d Overcome Them.” Deadline: March 1.
