Tomadini, Jacopo
Tomadini, Jacopo, Italian composer; b. Cividale del Friuli, Aug. 24, 1820; d. there, Jan. 21, 1883. He studied with G.B. Candotti at the local church school. In 1846 he took holy orders, and later succeeded Candotti as organist and maestro di cappella at the Cividale del Fiuli Cathedral. In 1874 he organized the Associazione Ceciliana Italiana in Venice. With G. Amelli et al., he founded the journal Musica sacra in 1877. Tomadini was a leading figure in the reform movement of Roman Catholic church music.
