Delta/VPPPA Safety, Health and Environmental Scholarships (Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage students’ active participation in occupational safety, health and/or environmental outreach programs in their schools, community and/or workplace. Focus: Environmental conservation; Occupational safety and health. Qualif.: Applicants must be students who are enrolled or enrolling in a college or university (graduate or undergraduate level) or a vocational school pursuing a degree in the environmental, occupational safety and/or health field; they must be either employed at a VPPPA Full, Corporate or Associate member company or the child or grandchild of an employee; and must have had or have at least a 2.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0. Criteria: Recipients are chosen on the basis of demonstrated occupational safety, health and/or environmental outreach efforts in their schools, communities and/or workplace, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, involvement in professional organizations, communication skills and other awards and honors earned at educational institutions or at their place of employment; Preference is given to applicants from airline and associated aviation industries.

Remarks: The scholarship supports Delta's “Force for Global Good” initiative that focuses on Breast Cancer Awareness, The Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity and environmental responsibility.

VPPPA William Sullivan Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To recognize an employee at a VPPPA full member site who has made significant contributions to the VPP program at his or her site. Focus: Environmental conservation; Occupational safety and health. Qualif.: Applicants must be a current employee at a VPP site (the site must be a VPPPA full member in good standing); must demonstrate their contributions to the VPP site; must be pursuing a degree (undergraduate or graduate) either part-time or full-time; and must have at least a 2.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0. Criteria: Recipient is chosen based on merit.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit a completed application form, an official transcript and a reference letter relating to your VPP involvement at your site from a site VPP coordinator, operations manager, site EHS staff, OSHA, Regional VPPPA Chapter Chairperson, and others. VPPPA June Brothers Scholarships (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage careers in the areas of safety, health and environment by providing educational support. Focus: Environmental conservation; Occupational safety and health. Qualif.: Applicants must be students who either work at a current VPP site or the children/grandchildren of an employee of a VPP site (the site must be a VPPPA full member in good standing); must be pursuing a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in the environmental, safety and health areas (either part-time or full-time); must have at least a 2.5 GPA on a scale of 4.0. Criteria: Recipients are chosen on the basis of demonstrated occupational safety, health and/or environmental outreach efforts in their schools, communities and/or workplace, leadership skills, extracurricular activities, involvement in professional organizations, communication skills and other awards and honors earned at educational institutions or at their place of employment.
