Gade, Axel Willy, Danish violinist, son of Niels Gade; b. Copenhagen, May 28, 1860; d. there, Nov. 9, 1921. He studied with his father and with Joachim, then was active in Copenhagen as a theater conductor and teacher. He wrote a Violin Concerto and an opera, Venezias Nat (Copenhagen, Jan. 18, 1919).
