Peptococcus A genus of Gram-positive bacteria which are not assigned to any taxonomic family. The cells are spherical and occur singly or in groups of 2 or more. They are non-motile, chemo-organotrophic, and can grow only in the absence of air. They are found in the bodies of animals (including humans).
