Bhūtaśuddhi
Bhūtaśuddhi (Skt., ‘purification of the elements’). The ritual purification of the body in Tantrism, so as to render the body sacred in order to worship a deity. The body corresponds to the cosmos, so bhūtaśuddhi recapitulates at a personal level the process of cosmic dissolution (pralaya). Bhūtaśuddhi is a preliminary rite in all forms of Tantric pūjā.
