Libert, Henri
Libert, Henri, French organist, teacher, and composer; b. Paris, Dec. 15, 1869; d. there, Jan. 14, 1937. He studied at the Paris Cons, with Marmontel and Diémer (piano), Franck and Widor (organ), and Massenet and Godard (composition), taking first organ prize (1894). He was titular organist at the Basilica of St. Denis in Paris, and a prof. of organ at the American Cons, in Fontainebleau. He wrote many organ works, including Variations symphoniques, Chorals, Préludes et fugues, piano pieces, motets, and songs. He also publ. didactic works.
