organochlorine
organochlorine A compound in the molecules of which chlorine is bound to the carbon of hydrocarbon groups. The organochlorines include the polychlorinated biphenyls and the class of insecticides that includes DDT, aldrin, and dieldrin. These vary in their toxicity, but tend to accumulate along food-chains, sometimes reaching harmful concentrations.
