Weinlig, Christian Ehregott
Weinlig, Christian Ehregott, German organist and composer, uncle of (Christian) Theodor Weinlig; b. Dresden, Sept. 30, 1743; d. there, March 14, 1813. He studied with Homilius at the Dresden Kreuzschule. In 1767 he was organist at the Evangelical Church in Leipzig, in 1773, at Thorn, and, in 1780, organist at the Frauenkirche. In 1785 he succeeded his teacher, Homilius, as Kantor of the Kreuzschule. He publ. sonatas for piano, with flute and cello, and brought out several oratorios as well as also light theater pieces.
