Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra. Founded by Karl Münchinger, first concert 18 Sept. 1945. Tours to France, Britain, and Spain 1949, Central and S. Amer. 1952, USA 1954, Far East 1955, and Russia 1959. Made many recordings, notably of Bach's Brandenburg Concs. and his choral works. Orch. augmented in 1966 to 45 players to form Stuttgart Klassische Philharmonie.
