Sérly, Tibór (b Losonc, 1900; d London, 1978). Hung.-born composer, conductor, and string player (Amer. cit. 1911). Taken to USA in 1905. Played va. in Cincinnati SO 1926–7, vn. in Philadelphia Orch. 1928–35 (ass. cond. 1933–5), and in NBC SO 1937–8. Settled in NY as teacher, 1937. Comp. va. conc., 2 syms., chamber mus., etc. Completed last 17 bars of Bartók's 3rd pf. conc. and completed Bartók's va. conc. from composer's sketches, 1945.
