The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg
The Life and Times of Hank Greenberg ★★★★ 1999 (PG)
Excellent documentary tells the story of De troit Tiger Hall of Fame first baseman Hank Greenberg though interviews with sportswriters, teammates, other players of the era, and fans (many of which were young Jewish boys who later became fa mous themselves), and archival footage from on and off the field. Details Green berg's struggles as a high-profile Jew in a very anti-Semitic era and as a hero and source of inspiration to the Jewish com munity. Also does a fine job of exploring the settings (New York and Detroit during the ‘20s and ‘30s) in which Greenberg grew up and rose to stardom. 95m/C VHS, DVD. D: Aviva Kempner; W: Aviva Kempner.
