Yakar, Rachel (b Lyons, 1938). Fr. soprano. Début Strasbourg 1963. Sang with Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf, for over 20 years from 1964. Débuts: Bayreuth 1976; Glyndebourne 1977; Salzburg Fest. 1978; CG 1978. Sang Angel in concert perf. of Saint François d'Assise, Salzburg 1985. Specialist also in baroque roles. Teacher at Paris Conservatoire.
