Gerard D'Aboville

French sailor who is the only person to have rowed across both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans without assistance. D'Aboville rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in 72 days in 1980, rowing a distance of 2,735 miles (4,400 km) from west to east. In 1991 he rowed from Japan to the United States in just under 4½ months, making history in the process.
