proguanil (proh-gwan-il) n. a drug that kills malaria parasites and is administered by mouth in combination with atovaquone (as Malarone) for the prevention and treatment of falciparum malaria. Alone, it may be used for the prevention of malaria. Trade name: Paludrine.
