Mortaro, Antonio
Mortaro, Antonio , Italian composer who flourished from 1585 to 1610. He became a Franciscan friar in Brescia in 1595. By 1598 he was organist at Milan’s Franciscan monastery, and by 1602 at No vara Cathedral. About 1607 he returned to Brescia. His large output includes 10 vols, of sacred vocal music (1595–1610) and 5 vols, of secular vocal music (1590–1600).
