Breuer, Hans (real name, Johann Peter Joseph)
Breuer, Hans (real name, Johann Peter Joseph), German tenor; b. Cologne, April 27, 1868; d. Vienna, Oct. 11, 1929. He studied voice at the Cologne Cons. (1890–92), making his operatic debut in 1896 as Mime at Bayreuth, and appearing there regularly until 1914. He also sang at the Vienna Court Opera from 1900 until his death. He made his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. in Die fliegender Hollander on Jan. 6, 1900.
