Joy, Génèviève (1919—)

French pianist, known for her performances of French contemporary music. Born in Bernaville, France, on October 4, 1919; married Henri Dutilleux (a composer).

Génèviève Joy was born in Bernaville, France in 1919. She studied with Yves Nat and went on to receive the first prize of the Paris Conservatory in 1941. Joy has played many contemporary French scores, including the 1948 premiere of her husband Henri Dutilleux's Piano Sonata. In 1970, she premiered his Figures de resonances for two pianos.
