Kennedy, Louise St. John (1950–)

Australian architect. Born 1950 in Perth, Australia; attended University of Western Australia; University of Melbourne, BA in architecture, 1978.

The 1st woman appointed to Architects Board of Western Australia, founded practice in Cottesloe, Australia, designing mostly smaller-scale buildings; won Robyn Boyd Award for most outstanding piece of domestic architecture in Australia (1984); designed 24 houses in 8-year period; caused uproar with 1986 design for tearooms jutting out over Mosman Bay but was vindicated; other notable projects include Cribb Residence, Cottesloe (1985), Riseley Square Shopping Center, Applecross (1988), Ledger Residence Additions, Dalkeith (1989), and City Edge Development Commercial Center with 200 residential units, Northbridge (1989).
