Made stage debut as a child dancer in Waltz without End (1942), followed by Panama Hattie, Little Red Riding Hood (title role), and Babes in the Wood; scored a major success as Norma Smith in No Room at the Inn (1946); films include No Room at the Inn, A Man's Affair, Bond Street and The Magic Box.
