American character actress. Born Nov 10, 1885, in Beaufort, South Carolina; died July 23, 1961, in Los Angeles, California.
Appeared on Broadway in such plays as Carrie Nation and Picnic; made over 100 films, including Crime without Passion, Back Street, Private Worlds, Dead End, The Awful Truth and The Egg and I; also appeared in many of the "Ma and Pa Kettle" series.
