evangelical This term is derived from the Greek word euaggelion meaning ‘ Gospel’ or good news (of the salvation of human beings from sin). In sociological terms, it refers to those movements in Protestantism which are concerned with religious revival through an emphasis on the Bible, preaching, personal conversion, and salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.
