Sticta
Sticta (order Peltigerales) A genus of lichens in which the thallus is foliose; the lower surface is downy and is perforated by cyphellae. The phycobiont may be a green alga or a cyanobacterium. Some species have a strong, characteristically fishy smell. The apothecia are lecanorine. Spores are colourless or brown, with 1–3 septa. In Britain, Sticta species are found chiefly on mossy trees or rocks in moist western districts.
