Megalomycteridae (large-nose fish; subclass Actinopterygii, order Lampridiformes) A small family of deep-sea fish that have an elongate body, the spineless dorsal and anal fins located near the tail fin, and an unusually large olfactory organ (‘large nose’). There are five species, with world-wide distribution.
