sans French, = ‘without’.
sans peur et sans reproche without fear and without reproach; the description ‘Chevalier sans peur et sans reproche [Fearless, blameless knight]’ was used in contemporary chronicles of Pierre Bayard (1476–1524).
Sans Souci name of the French rococo palace (in French, literally ‘Carefree’) built near Berlin by Frederick the Great of Prussia (1740–86).
