Lindsey, diocese of. Theodore carved this bishopric out of the Northumbrian diocese of York c.677 to serve part of modern Lincolnshire, then an area disputed between Mercia and Northumbria. It collapsed under the Danish invasions c.873 and was not revived. The region later came under Dorchester-on-Thames and then Lincoln.
