Hoyle, Sir Fred
Hoyle, Sir Fred ( Frederick) (1915–2001) English astrophysicist and cosmologist. He developed the steady-state theory, which, although superseded by the Big Bang theory, sparked important research into nucleosynthesis in stars. Hoyle often attracted controversy with unorthodox ideas.
