Cronin, A.J. (Archibald Joseph)
Cronin, A.J. (Archibald Joseph) (1896–1981) Scottish novelist. He was a medical inspector of mines and physician until the success of his debut novel, Hatter's Castle (1931). Many of his works, such as The Stars Look Down (1935), The Citadel (1937), The Keys of the Kingdom (1942) and The Green Years (1944), were filmed soon after they were written.
