Raised in Philadelphia, PA; married Beatrice Colen (an actress), 1977 (died November 18, 1999); married Amber Kinser (a professor), August, 2004; children: (first marriage) James, Charlie. Education: La Salle College, B.A., French and philosophy, 1963; Temple University, M.A., directing; also attended Tulane University.

Career: Actor and educator. Performed as a singer and vaudevillian in the 1940s and 1950s and at various venues. Appeared in advertisements and industrial films. East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN, Basler chair of excellence, beginning c. 1998, associate professor of theatre and English, director and actor, director of the division of performing arts for the university's Honors College, and permanent artist in residence; instructor at Temple University, Philadelphia, PA.

Member: Screen Actors Guild, Actors' Equity Association, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.

Awards, Honors: Named an outstanding alumnus, Temple University, 1998.
