ASA/NSF/BLS Fellowships (Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To improve the collaboration between government and academics research. Focus: Statistics. Qualif.: Applicants should have recognized research records and considerable expertise in their areas of proposed research. Criteria: Preference will be given to those who meet the criteria.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must submit the following information via e-mail: a curriculum vitae; names and addresses of three references; a detailed research proposal that includes background information about research topic, significance of expected results; advantages of conducting research at the BLS; and detailed budget estimate (salary, relocation, travel expenses, research support). Edward C. Bryant Scholarships Trust Fund (Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for graduate education. Focus: Statistics. Qualif.: Applicants must have the potential to contribute in survey statistics; must have experience in survey statistics; and must be in a graduate school. Criteria: Recipients will be chosen by the ASA Bryant Scholarship Award Committee.

Remarks: Westat established the Edward C. Bryant Scholarship Trust Fund in 1995 to honor its co-founder and Chairman Emeritus. Under Dr. Bryant's leadership, Westat, an employee-owned statistical firm established in 1961, has grown into what is now one of the world's leading statistical research corporations serving Federal, state, and local governments, as well as businesses and foundations. Gertrude M. Cox Scholarships (Doctorate, Graduate/Fellowship)

Purpose: To encourage more women to enter statistically-oriented professions. Focus: Statistics. Qualif.: Applicants must be female residents of United States or Canada and

must be admitted in a graduate statistical program. Criteria: Awards will be given based on merit.

Wilks Memorial Awards (Undergraduate/Award/Prize)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for students who are in need; to honor the memory and distinguished career of Sam by honoring contributions (either recent or past) to the advancement of scientific or technical knowledge, ingenious application of existing knowledge, or successful activity in the fostering of cooperative scientific efforts that have been directly involved in matters of national defense or public interest. Focus: Statistics. Qualif.: Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Criteria: Selection of recipients will be based primarily on contributions (either recent or past) to the advancement of scientific or technical knowledge, ingenious application of existing knowledge, or successful activity in fostering of cooperative scientific efforts that have been directly involved in matters of national defense or public interest.
