Critical Language Scholarships for Intensive Summer Institutes (Graduate, Undergraduate/Scholarship)
Purpose: To expand the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages. Focus: Business; Engineering; Science; Social Sciences; Humanities. Qualif.: Applicants must be U.S. citizens; must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at the undergraduate or graduate level; must have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program no more than two-years ago; undergraduate students must have completed at least one year of general college course-work by program start date (one year is defined as two semesters or three quarters); or students in all disciplines including business, engineering, science, the social sciences and humanities are encourage to apply. Criteria: Recipients are selected base on academic records.

Kenan Erim Fellowships for Research at Ancient Aphrodisiacs (Postdoctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To support excavation and/or research about art history and archeology at Aphrodisias in Turkey during the summer. Focus: Art History; Architecture; Archeology. Qualif.: Applicants must be advanced graduate students engaged in excavation and research at Aphrodisias. Criteria: Recipients are selected base on academic records and financial need.

Fellowships in the Humanities and Social Sciences in Turkey (Postdoctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To promote American and Turkish research and exchange related to Turkey. Focus: Ancient; Medieval Studies; Modern Languages; Humanities; Social Sciences. Qualif.: Applicants must be advance graduate students engaged in research on ancient, medieval, or modern times in Turkey, in any field of humanities and social sciences; must have fulfilled all requirements for the doctorate except the dissertation by June and before beginning any ARIT-sponsored research. (Non-U.S. applicants are expected to maintain an affiliation with an educational institution in the United States or Canada). Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic records and financial need.

Purpose: To promote American and Turkish research and exchange related to Turkey. Focus: General Studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be citizens or national/permanent residents of the United States; must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate level academic program; must have a minimum B average in studies; must perform at the high-intermediate level on a proficiency-based admission examination. Getty Research Exchange Fellowship Program for Cultural Heritage Preservation (Doctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To support advanced regional research and exchanges between research centers in the Mediterranean and Middle East regions. Focus: General Studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be Turkish citizens who have already obtained PhD; must have professional experience in the study or preservation of cultural heritage; must be willing to undertake specific research project in overseas research centers of another country. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on: the significance of the proposal; value of the collaboration proposed; feasibility of the research design; and applicant's research background.

Ilse and George Hanfmann Fellowships (Doctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To enable nationals of the Republic of Turkey who are graduate students at or recent PhDs from Turkish universities in archaeology and related fields to study abroad (North America or elsewhere). Focus: General studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be candidates for M.A. or Ph.D. degrees who have finished all course work and passed all qualifying examinations for the degree before entering the tenure of a Hanfmann Fellowship; must be a scholars who have received their Ph.D. and have not yet reached 45 years of age. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on achievement.
Funds Avail.: $15,000-$45,000. To Apply: Applicants must submit a curriculum vitae; one-paragraph summary of the project; statement of purpose (no more than five double-spaced pages, and includes description of the project and its importance, a brief summary of the literature, the reasons for wanting to study or conduct research abroad, what institution this work would be conducted, and why such tenure abroad would be professionally advantageous to the present academic career); official transcript of undergraduate and graduate course work; demonstration of proficiency in the language or languages necessary for conducting research abroad; minimum of three letters of recommendation from scholars familiar with the applicant's work. Mellon Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Turkey for East European Scholars (Doctorate/Fellowship)
Purpose: To bring the East-Central European scholars into a broader research community. Focus: General Studies. Qualif.: Applicants must be scholars from Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania who have completed all requirements for the PhD or who hold a PhD degree or its equivalent; must be citizens and permanent residents of one of the nine included countries.
