Erythroxylum

Erythroxylum (family Erythroxylaceae) A genus of trees and shrubs in which the leaves are simple with persistent longitudinal folds. E. coca of the Andes is the source of cocaine, obtained from the leaves. There are about 250 species, occurring in tropical and subtropical regions, mainly of America and Madagascar.
