Hippocrates (
c.460–377 bc), Greek physician, traditionally regarded as the father of medicine. His name is attached to a body of ancient Greek medical writings, probably none of which was written by him.
Hippocratic oath an oath stating the obligations and proper conduct of doctors, formerly taken by those beginning medical practice. Parts of the oath are still used in some medical schools.
