Takht (Pañjābī, ‘throne’). 1. Five historical Sikh shrines where decisions taken by the saṅgat are authoritative. The takhts are Akāl Takht, Amritsar; Harimandir Sāhib, Paṭnā; Keśgaṛh Sāhib, Anaṇḍpur; Hazūr Sāhib, Nandeṛ; Damdama Sāhib, near Batinda in the Pañjab. 2. Wooden frame on which Ādi Granth is installed in the gurdwārā.
