Padbrué, Cornelis Thymanszoon

Padbrué, Cornelis Thymanszoon, Netherlands composer and schalmei player, nephew of David Janszoon Padbrué; b. Haarlem, c. 1592; d. there (buried), Jan. 18, 1670. He spent his entire life in Haarlem, where he was made a city musician in 1610. In 1629 he was named to the position of 1st schalmei player, being granted the title of master. He also served as a harpsichord teacher to the blind at the Reformed church. A contentious individual by nature, Padbrué was dismissed from his municipal duties in 1635. He pubi. 7 vols, of music (1631–46), the most significant being his De tränen Petri ende Pauli for 2 to 5 Voices and Basso Continuo (Amsterdam, 1646).
