Jacchini, Giuseppe Maria
Jacchini, Giuseppe Maria, Italian cellist and composer; b. Bologna, c. 1663; d. there, May 2, 1727. He received training in cello from Domenico Gabrielli and in composition from Perti. He was a cellist at S. Petronio in Bologna (1689-96; 1701-27), and also served as maestro di cappella in the Collegio dei Nobili and at S. Luigi. In 1688 he was elected a member of Bologna’s Accademia Filarmonica. He became well known as an instrumentalist. As a composer, he was admired for his trumpet and string sonatas.
